Luxembourg, LU, 29 January, 2026 — Just seven months after its launch in June 2025, the Nordea 1 – Empower Europe Fund (ISINs: BP EUR – LU3076185084 / BI EUR – LU3076185167) has surpassed €500 million in assets under management, driven by strong and sustained investor demand.
This milestone comes at a moment of growing geopolitical tension and economic uncertainty, underscoring the urgent need for Europe to invest in itself. Since the fund’s launch, pressure on EU member states to take action to regain autonomy has continued to build. As the continent confronts critical dependencies, investors are turning to solutions that support its resilience, autonomy, and long-term competitiveness.
Nordea Asset Management (NAM) sees Europe’s strategic economic shift not as a policy adjustment, but as a defining moment for the continent’s future. As long-held assumptions about stability, security, and global integration evolve, capital is being redeployed with renewed intent. Investment is becoming a force for resilience—channeled into energy security, industrial strength, and defence capabilities that empower Europe to shape outcomes, safeguard prosperity, and thrive in a more demanding world. The Nordea 1 – Empower Europe Fund aims to be positioned at the heart of this transformation, aligning investor capital with the rebuilding of Europe’s economic sovereignty and long-term competitiveness.
The strategy stands out for its active exposure to European small and mid-cap innovators, which are critical to building the bloc’s strategic autonomy. These companies are closely linked to local supply chains, enabling them to drive the next phase of industrial growth and resilience across Europe.
The Nordea 1 – Empower Europe Fund targets companies operating at the intersection of innovation, investment, and geopolitical necessity, structured around three key themes:
- Energy Resilience: Accelerating energy independence and strengthening critical infrastructure
- Reshoring: Investing in automation, reshoring, and smart manufacturing
- Defence and Cyber Security: Bolstering defence systems, equipment, and cyber risk mitigation
The fund is managed by René Petersen and Co-Portfolio Manager Hilde Jenssen, who each bring more than 30 years of investment experience. The duo is supported by NAM’s Fundamental Equities Team, recognised for its award-winning European equity strategies.
As it rapidly builds momentum, the Nordea 1 – Empower Europe Fund aims to give investors a timely opportunity to participate in Europe’s transformation at a defining moment for its economic future.
