Luxembourg, LU, 29 April 2025 — Nordea Asset Management (NAM) is pleased to celebrate the 3-year anniversary of Nordea 1- Global Climate Transition Engagement Fund1 (ISIN BP-USD: LU2463526074 / BI-USD: LU2463525423).

Leveraging over 15 years of climate investment expertise, NAM launched the Fund in 2022 to seize on misvalued opportunities in emissions-intensive sectors that are vital in the green economy—like materials and industrials—as they transition toward more sustainable practices. In line with the latest ESMA Guidelines, the Fund recently added “Transition” to its name, underscoring its core focus on decarbonisation and climate transition.

While climate investing has traditionally favored climate leaders and excluded high-emitting sectors, this approach has often overlooked companies in earlier stages of transition. The Fund, which now manages over €400 million in assets, 2takes a differentiated path. The fund applies a value tilt to target companies with untapped potential that are transitioning to more sustainable business models. Through active engagement with management teams, we aim to unlock long-term value and support meaningful change. This value orientation also makes the fund a strong diversifier in thematic or climate-focused portfolios, which tend to be more growth biased.

Three years in, we are seeing this strategy deliver—both in carbon emissions reduction and attractive returns3. Companies in carbon-intensive sectors such as energy, industrials, and agriculture all play a crucial role in achieving the transition to a greener, lower-carbon economy. Often considered ‘climate laggards,’ many of these companies are overlooked by today’s market. Moving them towards the green transition can unlock their untapped value as the market re-evaluates their potential, enabling them to create alpha while driving real-world change.

NAM engages with 100% of the Fund’s portfolio companies, delivering on our commitment to environmental stewardship. Our engagement efforts focus on five key themes: air and greenhouse gas emissions, energy management, environmental pollution, natural resource management, and sustainable business models. These themes are aligned with two key dimensions: Climate and Nature. The investment team utilizes a proprietary Decarbonisation Tool that provides a forward-looking view of the emissions trajectories of companies in our investment universe—covering both direct and indirect emissions.

“Our conviction in decarbonisation and climate transition investing has only strengthened. We are seeing growing interest for investments in this area and we’re confident that our proven process and deep climate investment expertise will continue to deliver value for shareholders while supporting a more sustainable future.”
