LUXEMBOURG, LU — Nordea Asset Management (NAM) announces the 3-year anniversary of Nordea 1 – Global Stars Equity Fund (ISIN: LU0985320562 (BP-USD), LU0985319804 (BI-USD)), launched 17 May 2016.

This month, Nordea’s flagship ESG franchise, the STARS, celebrates an important milestone with the three-year anniversary of the Nordea 1 – Global Stars Equity Fund (the Fund). The Fund was the third addition to the STARS range, now 8 funds strong, and recently surpassed USD 400 million in assets under management with a solid relative performance compared to its benchmark and peer group.

Nordea, a pioneer in ESG analysis, utilizes a proprietary ESG rating model, developed over the past decade, to evaluate all potential holdings. The Fund fully integrates ESG factors into portfolio management and construction while investing only in companies that meet Nordea’s sustainability standards. Additionally, the Fund deploys extensive dialogue and engagement efforts with companies in order to foster positive change.

The deep synergy between NAM’s ESG analysts and portfolio managers is a key component of the Fund’s success. NAM’s Fundamental Equities team selects the stocks and allocates capital, while the Responsible Investment team analyses the ESG aspects. “From idea generation to engagement with companies, our teams collaborate to build a 360-degree perspective of a holding,” says Johan Swahn, manager of the Fund. “The two teams work alongside each other throughout the investment process, providing invaluable insights into possible risks as well as opportunities.”

Nordea Asset Management has been committed to Responsible Investment for more than 10 years and manages over €46 bn in ESG strategies. The first Stars strategy was launched in 2011. In addition to the Global Stars Equity strategy, Nordea’s STARs range consists of four equity solutions (Emerging Stars, European Stars, North American Stars and Nordic Stars) and three recently launched fixed income strategies (Emerging Stars, European Corporate Stars and European High Yield Stars). All Stars strategies seek to deliver outperformance while shaping tomorrow’s world.
